East Coast Video Productions

East Coast Video Productions was founded in 2000 in Halifax, Nova Scotia just as the modern digital video revolution was beginning. Cameras were getting smaller and producing professional quality footage was possible at a reasonable cost. At the same time, nonlinear video editing was being done on home computers and this opened up a world of opportunity.

East Coast Video Productions has always strived for one thing: Obtaining the highest possible quality and production values while keeping crew and costs to a minimum. A strong online presence has never been more important and video has proven to be the way audiences prefer to be reached. We can help you get your message heard today.

James McDonald, Owner of East Coast Video Productions

James McDonald

James grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick and graduated from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Political Science. During his schooling he was heavily involved in film studies and the Fredericton Film Co-op. Post graduation he pursued a career in screenwriting before finally founding his own production company in 2000.
James prides himself on his attention to detail and his consistent pursuit of higher production values. The video industry is an ever-evolving one and James stays on the forefront of technology and technique through many hours of dedicated research, education and practice each week.
The overall success of any video project ultimately hinges on the ability for a producer to communicate effectively with the client. James enjoys the collaborative nature required to bring a client’s vision to life onscreen and knows that his job is to listen first, then make suggestions.
Nobody likes to work in an environment that is full of tension. Video production should be one of the most enjoyable things you will do for your company and James will set a relaxed tone that will make the whole process easier. “I truly love what I do, an when it is done right both my client and I should have an enjoyable experience creating a video together. There just seems to be a natural joy that happens when people are being creative together and I love to see that in my clients.”
